lyrics

PELICAN

On a deep thickly windy sandy summer afternoon
Debris sat upon the coast like my thoughts so strewn
So soon I gather wind and take it in to where i wanna go
Lifting wings glistening in the summer glow
Cause some will know and some will see the summary
A patient in recovery, recover me
So cover me come cover me

Pelican
My toes are webbed
Pelican, the tide has ebbed
Pelican my bill is full
Pelican pelican pe pelican so-ul

So i swoop down to the new ground
To a newfound heart pound
The blue sound to the grey ground
Wayward bound
To the after-hours shower
Where the coast is clear
Where i gather glow
And thoughts til the moon appears

Each one’s a bright light stick
On hollow’s eve
Tastes like a bright white stick
Lik-M-Aid sleeve

And as i grab all i grapple with garbled
Scrabble half started words
With astricts acting like startled verbs

But persistence is a virtue
So i chew and re-chew to reach you
Like an achoo oh how it gotchoo

Pelican
My toes are webbed
Pelican the tide has ebbed
Pelican my bill is full
Pelican pelican pe pelican so-ul

These crustaceans are inconsolable
I grab them all from big to small
They creepy crawl on in my soul
My rhythm of fishing seems to have got their attention
And keep em wriggling and guessin'
In neurotic obsession
This scavenger hunt
disgruntled growing decay
Feathers furrowed burrowed deeply
In this urban disarray
Wash away
Wish words
Which serve to dismay
But every bird has his day
And soon’ll be mine

Where the words urge surge blur foment in my mind
Pelican pelican can your beak speak a smile
Can it sing spread its wings for a new trial

Pelican
My toes are webbed
Pelican the tide has ebbed
Pelican my bill is full
Pelican pelican pe- pelican so-ul
